Acadian Family Reunion Tour

In 2004 people of Acadian decent will be coming to Nova Scotia to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Sieur de Monts and Samuel de Champlain, who established the earliest European settlement north of Florida. This celebration coincides with the third Congress Mondial Acadien (World Acadian Congress). The congress is scheduled to take place from July 31 – August 15, 2004 and is expected to attract over 100,000 people to Nova Scotia. The schedule of events includes family reunions, concerts, displays of Acadian heritage, and lectures on Acadian heritage, education, and politics. These events will take place across the Province. The Congress concludes on August 15th (declared National Acadian Heritage Day) with a large open air concert on Citadel Hill in Halifax.
